About Koh Chang
Located in the eastern Gulf of Thailand, 330km from Bangkok, Koh Chang (Elephant
Island) is the second largest island in the Kingdom after Phuket. Unlike Phuket
however, Koh Chang has remained relatively undeveloped and is the perfect destination
for
Chang Island
those seeking a calm retreat to relax away the stresses and strains of everyday
life.
Nearly 80% of Koh Chang and 51 surrounding islands is protected as part
of a National Marine Park which not only includes the reefs and shoreline but
the densely forested interior of the island that is rich with bird and animal
life.
The west coast of the island has the best beaches and it is
here where most of the hotels, resorts and bungalows are situated along
with the majority of shops, restaurants and businesses. The east coast is quieter
with local farmers tending their fruit orchards and coconut groves.
In the south, fishing villages built on stilts like Bang Bao and Salak Phet,
offer typical local cuisine in open air restaurants over the water and are a
window on the traditional Thai island lifestyle
A wide variety of activities are available on the island including swimming,
scuba diving, sailing and fishing. The interior of the island has some good
hikes to remote jungle waterfalls in the mountains.
The island takes the temperature of the surrounding sea and varies between
24 -28 C during the year and if there is rain it is
normally a thundershower of short duration.

Getting There
The resort is located on Koh Chang island on the east coast of the Gulf of
Thailand. The distance from Bangkok is 330 km and takes about 4 hours by car
or bus to Trat, the provincial capital. Driving time from Pattaya City is approximately
3 hours.
Bangkok Airways flies from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat twice daily with
a flight time of 55 minutes.
From Trat there are three piers (Ao Thammachat, Centrepoint and Laem Ngob)
with ferries leaving to Koh Chang on a frequent basis every day. The ferry ride
takes 40 minutes to the pier at Koh Chang and from there the resort is just
15 minutes away on White Sand Beach (Had Sai Khao).
